Janet A. Chamberlain, 73, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday March 22, 2017 at her home where she lived with her love of 12 years, Harry Shireman. Janet was born Jan. 20, 1944 in Mansfield and was the daughter of the late Marion C. and Eileen E. (Taylor) Furry. Following her 1962 graduation from Madison High School, Janet studied cosmetology in Long Beach, CA and spent time with her family there. She returned to Ohio and married Hilbert H. Schrack on August 6, 1970 and they lived at the Charles Mill Dam and raised three children, Andrew, Mary, and Susan.

Janet owned and operated the Mifflin Inn for 34 years where she nurtured and loved countless employees and customers. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US and was teased by her children for being a walking Atlas. Janet never knew a stranger and had tremendous compassion for anyone in need. If she had a moment of down time, you would find her sitting at her cabin in the woods reading a book and sipping on a beloved Coca-Cola. Janet loved being a grandmother and had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her companion, Harry Shireman; a son, Andrew (Jeanet) Schrack of Niceville, FL; two daughters: Mary (Ronald) Markley of Ashland, and Susan (Rodd) McFrederick of Ashland; her late husbandís daughter, Beverly (Joseph) Huffman of Medina; nine grandchildren: Tyler, Isabelle, and Gabrielle Schrack, Lucas Markley, Leif, Maya, Reid, Isla, and Witt McFrederick; three brothers: David Lutz of Mansfield, Todd (Barb) Lutz of Florida, and Tom (Nancy) Furry of North Carolina; and four sisters: Diane (Lowell) Hardesty of Medina, Bobbi Jo (Jim) Belcher of Mansfield, Terry (Phil) Perry of Mansfield, and Gina Chambers of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hilbert W. Schrack on April 22, 1989, and a granddaughter, Taylor Esbenshade in 1997.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 27 in St. Michael Lutheran Church, Mifflin with Pastor Jean Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Lucas. Friends may visit with Janetís family on Sunday from 2-5 PM in St. Michael Lutheran Church. The LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, Loudonville is honored to assist the Chamberlain family.
