Donna Jo Workman, 85, of Ashland died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Workman was born July 10, 1933 in Lodi and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Edwin and Mary Irene McGuire Messner. She was a 1951 graduate of Loudonville High School and had been a resident of Ashland most of her life. She was a customer service representative with Ingmand Insurance Agency in Ashland for 12 years, retiring in 1991. Mrs. Workman was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ashland and was active with various church committees, the Ashland Business and Professional Women since 1978, the Ashland Historical Society, the American Legion Auxiliary #88, a UH Samaritan Medical Center Volunteer for ten years, and belonged to the “Condo Divas Lunch Club”. On June 23, 1951 she married Robert Workman and he died Dec. 7, 2013. For many years she and her late husband worked the polls for the Ashland County Board of Elections, which she continued through the most recent elections. She enjoyed traveling, playing Words With Friends, Euchre, doing puzzles, and following the Cleveland Indians.
She is survived by two sons: Mike (Gretta) Workman of North Canton, and Ronald E. (Darlene) Workman of Ashland; one daughter: Brenda G. Workman of Mansfield; nine grandchildren: Meagan (Tony) Lehman of Cuyahoga Falls, David (Meredith) Workman of Chandler, AZ, Christopher (Alycia) Workman of Queen Creek, AZ, Lucas (Danielle) Workman of Ashland, Julie (Dan Garry) Workman of Dublin, Ireland, Daniel (Rachel) Workman of Mansfield, Niya (Cory) Randall of Newark, Natalie Taylor of Mansfield, and Monica (Brian) Hunt of Mansfield; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother: John (Doris) Messner of Loudonville; and two sisters: Wanda Koppert of Loudonville and Sandra (Charles) Zeigler of Apple Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two great-grandchildren, and her brother-in-law, Duane Koppert.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6 at 11:00 AM in First United Methodist Church of Ashland with Pastors Allan Bevere and Tom Snyder officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 in Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, March 5 from 6-8 PM In First United Methodist Church.
